President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has departed Yokohama, Japan, for a state visit to Brazil, with a brief stop in Los Angeles, United States.
His special adviser on information and strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed in a statement on Friday that the president left Japan on Thursday night and will begin his official engagements in Brasília, Brazil’s capital, on August 24.
Tinubu left Nigeria on August 15, making a transit stop in Dubai before arriving in Yokohama on August 18 for the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9).
The conference, convened by the Japanese government in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the African Union Commission, and the World Bank, focused on Africa’s economic growth, institutional reforms, and private-sector-driven innovation.
During his stay in Japan, the president held bilateral meetings and also met with members of the Nigerian community.
