It’s another victory for Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, the economist-turned-politician who continues to chart a distinct political path in Anambra State. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday morning declared the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate winner of the November 8 governorship election.
Announcing the result at the collation centre in Awka, the Returning Officer, Prof. Edoba Omoregie, said Soludo polled 422,664 votes, far ahead of Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who recorded 99,445 votes.
George Moghalu of the Labour Party (LP) came a distant third with 10,576 votes, while Jude Ezenwafor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) managed 1,401 votes.
Declaring the outcome, Prof. Omoregie described the election as peaceful and transparent, affirming that Soludo “having scored the highest number of valid votes and met all legal requirements, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.”
For Soludo, it marks another milestone in a journey that began long before politics — one that has now seen him reaffirm his place as a dominant figure in Anambra’s evolving political landscape.
