Senator Ned Nwoko, who represents Delta North, has said his wife, actress Regina Daniels, needs rehabilitation to overcome drug-related challenges and restore her well-being.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday, Nwoko said the move was necessary for the 25-year-old actress to be mentally and emotionally stable enough to care for their two children.
The lawmaker cited what he described as “alarming” toxicology reports showing “high levels of harmful substances” in Daniels’ system. He claimed that her behaviour had changed in recent months, leading to violent outbursts and health complications.
“I want her alive and healthy, not just for me but for our children,” he said. “We have two young kids together, and I must protect them by helping their mother get better.”
Nwoko alleged that some of Daniels’ close friends and relatives had been enabling her access to drugs despite his efforts to help her recover. He said he was willing to fund an independent medical evaluation to verify his claims.
The senator dismissed recent statements by Daniels’ mother and siblings denying the allegations, describing them as “distractions.”
The couple’s marital troubles became public in October after a viral video showed Daniels accusing Nwoko of domestic violence. In response, Nwoko alleged that his wife was battling drug and alcohol addiction.
Earlier on Sunday, Daniels admitted to using hard drugs but accused her husband of enabling her addiction as part of a pattern of control and manipulation. She also claimed that the lawmaker was in possession of her private recordings.
