Many high-profile opposition politicians, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, gathered at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja on Tuesday for the unveiling of a new opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Among other notable figures spotted at the event were former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, Senator Dino Melaye, former Minister of Youth and Sports Solomon Dalung, PDP chieftain and publisher Dele Momodu, Senators Gabriel Suswam and Ireti Kingibe of the Labour Party, and former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Emeka Ihedioha.
Also in attendance was Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar (retd.), former Chief of Air Staff.
The coalition brings together influential voices from across the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), and other political blocs. United under the ADC platform, the alliance is positioning itself as a formidable opposition force ahead of the 2027 general elections.
As part of the coalition’s leadership structure, former Senate President David Mark, who recently quit the PDP, is expected to chair the media conference as the newly appointed interim national chairman of the ADC. Former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola has been named the interim national secretary.
