Mr. Nosa Igiebor, co-founder of Tell Magazine, has paid glowing tribute to the late Yakubu Mohammed, describing him as the most humble person he ever encountered.
Igiebor spoke on Thursday at the 40-day Fidau prayer held in Lagos in honour of the veteran journalist.
Recalling their time together at National Concord and later at Newswatch, he said Mohammed was not only a boss but also a man of great character who made working with him easy.
“He made everyone feel welcome. I have never seen someone as humble as he was. We can only pray for the peaceful repose of his soul,” Igiebor said.
Mohammed was a prominent figure in Nigeria’s media landscape. He served as editor of National Concord before joining Ray Ekpu, Dan Agbese and Dele Giwa to found Newswatch, Nigeria’s first news magazine.
He died on January 14, 2026, at the age of 75.
