French President Emmanuel Macron and Brigitte Macron’s relationship has been under public scrutiny since its inception. They met in 1993 when Emmanuel was 15 years old and Brigitte was his 39-year-old high school drama teacher. Despite the significant age difference and societal criticism, they maintained their relationship and married in 2007.
Recently, during a state visit to Vietnam, a video surfaced showing Brigitte Macron making a quick gesture toward President Macron’s face as they disembarked from their plane. Some interpreted this as a slap, leading to widespread speculation and media coverage. However, both the President and his office dismissed these claims, attributing the gesture to playful banter between the couple.
Although there is no evidence to suggest that such interactions have been a recurring aspect of their relationship, many across the world are beginning to worry due to the huge age the difference. They are asking: ‘’how long?’’
For the sake of the president’s mental health, we hope the incident (abuse) is an isolated event that was misinterpreted by some observers.
