Troops of the 12 Brigade of the Nigerian Army have successfully repelled a bandit attack and rescued a kidnapped victim along the Oshokoshoko–Obajana axis in Lokoja, Kogi State.
Lieutenant Hassan Abdulahi, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for 12 Brigade, said the operation was launched in the early hours of November 25 following credible intelligence on bandits transporting abducted persons through the area. Soldiers from the Kabba Patrol Base, working with hybrid forces, set up an ambush that brought the criminals under control.
“The bandits engaged our troops, but they were overpowered and fled in disarray,” Abdulahi said, noting that one suspect was neutralized and others sustained gunshot injuries. An AK-47 rifle was recovered, and the rescued victim, found weak and distressed, was taken for medical attention.
Pursuit operations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing bandits. Abdulahi reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to safeguarding communities and urged residents to provide credible information to aid security efforts.
