Actress Annie Macaulay has sparked fresh rumours of a possible reconciliation with music star Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, after reverting to his surname amid the ongoing breakdown of their marriage. The development comes months after the couple publicly announced their separation, even as their divorce is yet to be formally concluded.
Although both parties appear to be settling into life apart, Annie’s recent actions have continued to attract public attention. For the actress, this transition has been marked by deliberate self-care, personal reflection and a renewed focus on her children.
Shortly after the separation became public, Annie embarked on a wellness retreat that took her through Qatar and Singapore before extending the journey to Cape Town, South Africa. Since then, she has frequently shared moments highlighting her bond with her daughters and her commitment to their well-being.
Her social media posts have also reflected themes of self-worth and introspection. In September, Annie shared a message that read: “I hope my daughter doesn’t accept things I’ve accepted, that she knows her worth from the start and that no matter what, she always has me in her corner.”
In December, following the circulation of a viral video showing 2Baba and his wife, Natasha, in an altercation that reportedly ended with the singer being escorted away by police officers, Annie posted a series of cryptic messages on her Instagram Stories. One read, “Sometimes, trying to prove that you are the best is an insult,” while another featured burning matchsticks with one pulled away from the rest, captioned, “The power of stepping away.”
She also stirred reactions after using 2Baba’s song, Enter the Place, to promote an event in Cape Town, a move that generated mixed reactions among fans.
Speculation intensified when Annie changed her Instagram handle back to Annie Idibia, after previously dropping the surname following 2Baba’s announcement of their separation. At the time, she signed off a message to supporters with her maiden name, writing: “God bless you for the outpouring of love… Lots of love. Annie Uwana Macaulay.”
Annie publicly acknowledged the separation in May 2025 at the 17th Headies Awards in Lagos, where she initially introduced herself as “Annie Idi…” before correcting it to “Annie Macaulay.”
