The family of music icon Innocent “2Baba” Idibia has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, alleging that his partner, Natasha Osawaru, assaulted him and engaged in acts of bigamy and financial misconduct.
In a letter dated November 12, the Idibia family urged the police to investigate a series of incidents they say have caused the singer emotional distress, financial losses and reputational harm. According to the petition, 2Baba and several witnesses reported multiple instances of physical assault in both the United Kingdom and Abuja.
The family further alleged that Natasha accessed the singer’s mobile phone and bank accounts without permission, transferring funds and withholding critical personal documents — including his passport — which they claim prevented him from attending scheduled business engagements.
They said these alleged actions have exposed 2Baba to potential financial setbacks, public embarrassment and concerns over his emotional well-being.
The petition also raised issues of alleged fraudulent misrepresentation and possible violations of marriage laws. According to the Idibia family, Natasha presented herself as the singer’s wife even though his divorce proceedings with Annie Macaulay Idibia were not concluded — an action they described as bigamy under Nigerian law.
Their intervention, the family said, became necessary following a series of “disturbing developments” that appear to threaten the singer’s personal safety, career commitments and financial stability.
The controversy became public after 2Baba’s former managers, Kaka Igbokwe and Lori Tosan, appeared on Daddy Freeze’s livestream, where they accused Natasha of seeking complete control over the singer’s finances and career. The situation escalated when 2Baba unexpectedly joined the livestream and demanded that they stop discussing his private life. Moments later, a heated argument between him and Natasha was heard off-camera before the broadcast abruptly ended.
In the aftermath, 2Baba’s brother, Hyacinth, posted lyrics from the song Diaspora Woman on Instagram, seemingly reacting to the unfolding drama.
The Edo State House of Assembly has also summoned Osawaru — who represents Egor constituency — to appear before its Ethics and Privileges Committee over her recent conduct that went viral online.
Meanwhile, 2Baba has appealed to the public not to inflame the situation, saying the escalating attention is “putting Natasha at risk.”
