Barcelona have announced they will plan Boca Juniors in a friendly in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on December 14 in honor of Diego Maradona.
The game between the two sides is being called the ‘Maradona Cup’ and has been arranged to “honour the memory of the great Diego Armando Maradona just over a year after his death.”
Maradona, one of the greatest players to ever grace the game of football, passed away on 25 November 2020 at the age of 60 at his home in Buenos Aires.
The Argentine legend played for both sides during his phenomenal career, winning the Metropolitano title with Boca and then the Copa del Rey, Copa de la Liga and Supercopa de Espana with the Catalan giants.
After leaving Barcelona, Maradona then moved on to Italy where he won two Serie A titles with Napoli and also went on to lead Argentina to World Cup glory in 1986.
