The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed the death of two individuals and injuries to 15 others in a lone accident involving a Toyota Hiace bus on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway at Saapade, Ogun State.
The FRSC spokesperson in Ogun State, Florence Okpe, disclosed the incident on Thursday in Abeokuta. She reported that the accident occurred around 4:34 p.m. and was caused by a tyre burst, which led to the driver losing control. The bus subsequently somersaulted and crashed.
Okpe stated that the bus, with registration number LSR 585 YH, was carrying 18 passengers at the time of the accident. The occupants included nine men, five women, two boys, and two girls.
Of the 15 injured, the breakdown included eight men, four women, two boys, and one girl. The two fatalities were a man and a woman.
The injured victims were rushed to PATMAG Hospital in Ogere for treatment, while the deceased were taken to the State General Hospital morgue in Isara.
The FRSC Sector Commander, Akinwunmi Fasakin, urged motorists to conduct thorough checks on their vehicles, particularly during periods of high traffic, to prevent avoidable accidents.
